How to download all your Snapchat Memories at once
The app only lets you export Memories you tap on one by one, which takes forever with a big library. But Snapchat will send you every single one if you ask for a copy of your data. It's free, and asking takes about a minute.
Pick one to see the steps.
Memories, step by step
- Open Snapchat's data page On a computer or your phone, go to accounts.snapchat.com, sign in and open "My Data". In the app it's in Settings, under "My Data".
-
Turn on only "Export your Memories"
Leave everything else off. It keeps your export smaller, and we don't use any of the
rest anyway.
- Export your Memories : on
- Export JSON files : off
- User information : off
- Chat history : off
- Spotlight : off
- Shopping : off
- Support history : off
- Ranking and location : off
- Other media : off
- Other : off
- My AI : off
- Export shared Stories : off
- Export Chat media : off
- Press "Request Only Memories" That asks for your Memories and nothing else. The list of your memories, with their dates and places, comes with it.
- Wait for Snapchat's email Snapchat says it aims to deliver within 7 days, and very big exports can take longer. Smaller ones often turn up within a day or two.
- Download every file The email links to your export, or you can find it on the same "My Data" page under "See exports". Big libraries come as several ZIP files. Download all of them and leave them zipped. We'd do it as soon as they arrive rather than wait.
- Add them to BackupMemories We launch soon . We put back the dates, places and captions, join the split videos, and you get everything back ready for your photo app.

Can you download all your Memories at once in the app?
Not really. In Memories you can tap the select icon, pick several Snaps and press "Export", but you have to tap every one yourself ( Snapchat's help page explains how). That's fine for a handful. For a few thousand, the data export above is the only sensible way.
Doing it on your phone
You can do the whole thing on a phone. On an iPhone the export downloads into the Files app; on Android it goes to your Downloads folder. So check you've got enough free space first, because a big library can be many gigabytes. If it's large, a computer on Wi-Fi is quicker.
What Snapchat sends you
One or more ZIP files, usually named like mydata~….zip. Inside are your photos
and videos, plus a list of every memory with its date and location. There's more about the
ZIP files and the
list of memories if you're
curious. You don't need to unzip anything to use BackupMemories.
Good to know
- My Eyes Only isn't included. Snapchat leaves it out of exports, so save those from the app yourself. How to get My Eyes Only out.
- Nothing is deleted. Asking for an export gives you a copy. Your Memories stay in Snapchat.
