How to save Snapchat Memories to Google Drive
Download your Memories with Snapchat's data export and fix the dates, then send them to Drive. BackupMemories uploads them straight into a new folder in your Drive, sorted by year and month, so nothing has to go through your phone.
Step by step
- Download your export Ask Snapchat for a copy of your data. Our guide shows how.
- Add it to BackupMemories Upload the files as they are. We email you a link when they're ready.
- Choose Google Drive Sign in with Google and allow BackupMemories to create files in your Drive.
- Open the new folder It's called "Snapchat Memories (BackupMemories …)" with the day's date, with a folder for each year and month inside.
Drive or Google Photos?
They’re good at different things. Google Drive™ keeps your memories as files in folders, which is great as a tidy archive you can download any time. But it isn’t a photo app, so you won’t get a timeline or search by place. If that’s what you want, Google Photos is the better home, and plenty of people use both.
What permission we ask for
For Google Drive, only permission to create files. We can see the files we create and nothing else in your Drive, and we drop the permission when sending finishes.
Dropbox
Dropbox works the same way. Choose Dropbox on your results page, sign in, and your memories go into a folder of their own inside Apps/BackupMemories. We can only write files into that folder, and like Drive, the permission is dropped when sending finishes.
Storage
Everything counts towards your Google or Dropbox storage. And if you also keep the photos in Google Photos, it counts twice, since they’re two separate copies.
