How to download Snapchat Memories to your computer

Request your export on Snapchat's website, download the ZIP files to your computer, and you have every Memory. To get them with the right dates, in folders by year and month, run them through BackupMemories and download the result.

Step by step

  1. Request your export Go to accounts.snapchat.com on your computer and follow our guide.
  2. Add the ZIP files to BackupMemories Drag them all onto the upload page, as they are.
  3. Download every part When your memories are ready, choose "Download to a computer" and download each ZIP file.
  4. Unzip them Double-click on a Mac, or right-click and "Extract All" on Windows. You get a folder for each year, with a folder for each month inside.

How the files are named

Each memory is named by when it was taken, like 2019/07/2019-07-14_184210_a1b2c3d4.jpg, so they sort in date order in any folder. The date and place are inside each file too, so photo apps pick them up. The computer download also has a report.txt with a summary, which is explained in what’s in report.txt.

On a Mac

Keep the folders wherever you like, or add them to the Photos app with File, then Import. If iCloud Photos is on, they’ll reach your iPhone and iPad from there too.

On Windows

Keep them in your Pictures folder, or import them into the Photos app. The dates are in the files, so they sort properly in either.

Why use a computer?

For a big library it’s faster than a phone, and there’s usually more space. And it’s the easiest place to make a second copy, on an external hard drive for example.
