How to backup Snapchat Memories to an external hard drive
Download your fixed memories to a computer, unzip them, and copy the folders onto the drive. You can do it from a phone with a USB-C drive, but a computer is much easier for a big library.

- Plug in the drive and copy the folders Drag the year folders onto the drive. Keep report.txt with them.
- Check the copy Open a few photos and videos from the drive before you delete anything else.
Which drive format to use
Many USB sticks come formatted as FAT32, which can’t hold a single file bigger than 4GB. Your memories, and our ZIP files of up to 2GB, are all under that, so FAT32 is fine. But if you’re setting up a new drive anyway, exFAT has no such limit, and both Mac and Windows can read and write it.
Keep it with a second copy
A drive in a drawer is a good backup, but it’s only one. Drives fail and get lost, so keep your memories somewhere else as well, like Google Photos or your phone. More on that in how to backup Snapchat Memories.
From a phone
Recent iPhones and Android phones can copy files onto a USB-C drive from their Files app. And it works fine for a small library. But you need space on the phone for the download and the unpacked files first, which is why a computer is easier for big ones.
