How to save Snapchat Memories to Dropbox
Download your Memories with Snapchat's data export, fix the files, and send them to Dropbox. BackupMemories uploads them into a folder of their own in your Dropbox, sorted by year and month or all together, so nothing has to go through your phone.
Step by step
- Download your export Ask Snapchat for a copy of your data. Our guide shows how.
- Fix it with BackupMemories Upload the ZIP files as they are, on your phone or a computer. We put back each memory's date, place and caption, join split videos, and email you a link when they're ready.
- Choose how to arrange them, then Dropbox Pick "By year and month" or "All in one folder" (the dates stay inside every file either way), then sign in to Dropbox and allow BackupMemories to add files.
- Open Apps, then BackupMemories Your memories are in a folder named "Snapchat Memories (BackupMemories …)" with the day's date. Chat photos and videos, if you saved them, are in a "Chat media" folder inside it.
Why not put the export in Dropbox as it is?
You can: Dropbox takes any file. But the ZIP files are only Snapchat’s raw export, and the day you want to look through them or move them into a photo app, every problem is still there, from photos with no date to memories spread across several ZIPs. Fixed files are ready for anything, now or years from now.
What permission we ask for
Dropbox gives us a folder of our own, Apps/BackupMemories, and we can only reach that folder, nothing else in your Dropbox. We drop the permission as soon as sending finishes, and Dropbox asks you to approve it each time.
Storage
Everything counts towards your Dropbox storage. The free plan, Dropbox Basic, has 2GB, which a few years of Snapchat memories can easily fill, so check you’ve got room before sending a big library.
Waiting for Snapchat's email?
Snapchat usually takes a day or two to send your export, sometimes up to a week. Leave your email and we'll send you one reminder, with what to do next.
